STOP CORPORATE IMPUNITY. RESTORE ECOLOGICAL JUSTICE.

Standing with the Peoples’ Movement against Chevron in the Ecuadorian Amazon

Friends of the Earth India expresses its strong solidarity with the Indigenous peoples, peasant communities, and social movements in Ecuador resisting the environmental destruction and injustice caused by Texaco, now Chevron in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The operations of the company in Sucumbíos and Orellana stand among the gravest examples of corporate environmental crimes and impunity. Toxic oil contamination devastated forests, rivers, and communities, violating the rights to health, water, land, culture, and self-determination of Indigenous peoples in the name of profit.

Despite repeated court rulings in favour of affected communities, Chevron has continuously refused accountability while using corporate power, international arbitration systems, and legal intimidation to evade justice. We strongly condemn the global structures of neoliberal corporate impunity that protect transnational corporations while criminalising peoples’ resistance.

The struggle in Ecuador reflects a broader global reality where extractive corporations exploit Indigenous territories, forests, and ecosystems across the Global South. As movements resisting destructive mining, fossil fuel expansion, land grabbing, and corporate capture in India, we recognise our shared struggle with the peoples of Ecuador. From the Amazon to the forests, coasts, and mountains of India, communities continue to defend land, water, biodiversity, and collective futures against extractivist violence.

We salute the courage and resilience of the Indigenous communities of Ecuador and reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with all those resisting Chevron’s destruction. Friends of the Earth India remains committed to strengthening international solidarity against corporate impunity, extractivism, and ecological violence. We join the growing global call for justice, reparations, ecological restoration, and accountability. From Ecuador to India, our struggles are deeply connected, and together we will continue to defend peoples’ rights, territories, and ecological justice. Chevron must be held accountable.

In Solidarity
